J Lacy is family oriented. The name J Lacy came from Leslie's niece who was born on the day Leslie purchased the shop. Our stylists work as a team and family to ensure your overall salon happiness. With continued education we are trained in all aspects of hair design. J. Lacy carries the products you need to achieve your finished style and satisfaction.
Artistic Director - Leslie Price opened J. Lacy on May 15, 1979. Her hair cutting skills were very cutting-edge for that time. Business consisted mainly of cuts, colors and permanents.
Moving to a larger establishment and hiring additional stylists provided room for added services such as: tanning, artificial nails, manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing for hair removal, body piercing, herbal body wraps and airbrushing for nails and temporary tattoos. And our most recent service, therapeutic massage.
Artistic Designer, Denise Bartholomew joined the staff in July of 1997, Denise continues to educate herself on the latest hairstyles and technical aspects of the trade. Recently Denise attended a forum in New York City that provided her with this summer's latest trends. Marcia Maxwell-Brown lends her talent by offering therapeutic massage.
J Lacy prides itself on our ability to always welcome and service walk-ins. Our "no-appointment" necessary approach facilitates hair care for people on the run.
J. Lacy was one of the first salons in the area to become computerized in 1989.
2004 brings a year of changes. The down-sizing of staff has brought the relationships with clients more intimacy and excitement.
2005 - 2006 -- Our
shop has had a facelift of it's own -- new European styled sinks, larger, more comfortable
chairs, full-length mirrors and a state-of-the-art hair drying system.
In July 2006, Amber Nicholson joined our team as a Creative Designer. Amber is a very ambitious young stylist that is extremely talented with all aspects of cosmetology. She has clients in all age ranges, with a forte with those 30 and under.
In 2007, Cher West joined our team as a Artistic Designer. Cher has been a stylist for 16 years and compliments our team with her knowledge and education.
Stylists range from Artistic Director to a Creative Designer. Many criteria are factored into each level. Years of experience, techniques achieved through continued education, number of days worked and number of clientele are a few of the criteria considered.
